Ron "Fritz" Williams

Men's Basketball

Ron "Fritz" Williams was the final thread in a string of home-grown All-American guards to play at West Virginia University, beginning with Hot Rod Hundley in the mid 1950s and continuing with Jerry West and Rod Thorn into the 1960s.

A native of Weirton, West Virginia, Williams, born Sept. 24, 1944, was one of the Ohio Valley's most prolific high school athletes in the early 1960s. Earning 11 varsity letters at Weir High, Williams drew equal interest from college recruiters in basketball and football.
